This year’s theme is ‘Books for Readers with Special Needs’, and Sharjah is the ‘guest of honour’ country. The Fair is organized by National Book Trust, India, an autonomous organization of the Government of India under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), the nodal agency of the Government of India under the Ministry of Commerce, is the co-organizer of the Fair.
The theme focuses heavily on the concept of ‘inclusive learning’ through means that go beyond the conventional educational set-up. To achieve this, the fair has also tied up with Microsoft to include an exhibition booth on ‘digital accessibility tools’. The students as a part of their project work took interviews of various publishers, authors, exhibitors, organizers and visitors.
Over 20 European Union countries are participating with a delegation of publishers, editors and authors. The EU pavilion also showcases some of the latest publications in English and other European languages along with panel discussions, talks, photo exhibits and cultural performances. Apart from the EU nations, more than 40 countries including Canada, China, Egypt, Pakistan and United Kingdom are participating in Delhi Book Fair 2018.
In authors corner, visitors can get to interact with some of the well-known writers like Ruskin Bond, Jerry Pinto, Michael Creighton, Paro Anand, Mridula Garg and Ranjit Lal among others.
