COE-AI VISION
To develop smart solutions for the future by leveraging next generation technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Deep-Learning, Machine-Learning, Natural Language Processing and much more.
“Harness the potential of AI for augmenting the state’s innovation ecosystem and create multiplier impact on economy, industry and society “.
In recognition of the growing relevance of Artificial Intelligence, K R Mangalam University established the Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (CoE-AI) on February 12, 2022. AI and machine learning are transforming every sector of human endeavour, and they require talent and an environment of innovation to thrive.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has recently surfaced as a technology trend in India with smart and intuitive innovations with real significance in its far-reaching impact on Social Empowerment. Machine learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) are two approaches that enabled the recent breakthrough in AI by embedding high tech. ,and quality hardware and software tools for development of AI based solutions for real-time applications which include expert systems, data mining, computer vision, autonomous vehicles and robots, Natural Language Processing (NLP), speech processing and machine translations, Chatbots, smart automation in academics, education, forensic investigation, cyber security, agriculture and industries and many more.
The purpose of setting up AI centric Lab at KRMU is to encourage, engage and involve
student innovators, young research scholars and faculty members to have hands-around on AI
based technologies, design and develop intuitive technological solutions and produce good
quality research in the following areas of projects and to benefit the most from AI in solving
industrial & societal needs. This centre will provide the platform for innovative new solutions in AI space, a gateway to test and develop various techniques and solutions for projects undertaken by the University at central and state level.
- NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING (NLP)
Natural language processing (NLP) is a subfield of linguistics, computer science, and Artificial Intelligence concerned with the interactions between computers and human language, in particular AI based technologies that allow computer to process and analyse large amount of natural language data, learn, understand and produce applications and solutions in Human-Machine language. NLP works closely with speech/voice recognition and synthesis, language translators, and text recognition engines and allows making sense of this information.
- COMPUTER VISION
Computer/Machine Vision (CV) is an interdisciplinary scientific field that deals with how computers can gain high-level understanding from digital images or videos. From the perspective of engineering, it seeks to understand and automate tasks that the human visual system can do. CV has brought the much-needed revolution in many industries and sectors. The headways in hardware such as GPU, 3D vision, Machine Learning devices, software tools such as CUDA NVIDIA, Theano, TensorFlow, Keras and OpenCV and ML, DL platform as a service over the cloud have made computer vision more impressive in the current day and therefore there’s been a spike in adoption of various computer vision tools in recent times, thanks to its implementation in fields like IoT, manufacturing, healthcare, security, etc.
- Renewable Energy Laboratory
Renewable Energy (RE) is a multidisciplinary field. Artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) have made a place in almost all fields. AI and ML integration in the RE system aims to minimize the forecasting challenges, improve performance, and efficiently integrate RE into the energy grid. The metrological department has multidimensional data such as solar radiation, temperature, and wind speed. The exploratory data analysis and the techniques implemented on the data collected from the various scenarios play a vital role in modeling, analysis, and forecasting. To achieve the goals Matlab and Python software tools are used.
The main Goals of the COE includes:
- To Equip laboratories/computing facility/research centres with modern AI enabled infrastructure facilities to enhance functional efficiency for teaching, training research and innovation purpose.
- To Impart hands-on knowledge through self-directed and per-to-peer learning, conduct trainings and inculcate the habit of continuous learning and improve education system for the students
- To Educate students and faculty about AI’s rapidly developing capabilities and enable the students to pursue courses and/ or career of their choice. Facilitate interdisciplinary, cross disciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborations in AI research.
- To Promote active research about AI’s social implications as its core mission
- To Engage students and young researchers in discussions related to relationship between human and machine
- To Design and develop large set to databases and storage facility for research & development purposes.
- To Engage in collaboration with industrial experts and academicians.
