NORTH REGIONAL CONCLAVE ON “GREEN SENSE: EDUCATIONAL CAMPUS INVENTORY” ORGANIZED BY CENTRE FOR SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENT (CSE), NEW DELHI & GURU NANAK DEV UNIVERSITY (GNDU), AMRITSAR

15 - 16th November, 2018.
Regional Conclaves at Delhi

CSE’s Green Educators’ Network brings together the academicians and professionals of the country at a forum each year to enable discussions on environmental sustainability. To make the forum more accessible, CSE started organizing these Conclaves in different regions of India. CSE has organised Regional Conclaves at Delhi, Kolkata, Alwar and Mysuru.

In 2017, CSE’s Sustainable Buildings and Habitat Programme (SBHP) launched an initiative titled “Green Sense: Educational Campus Inventory” at one of the Regional Conclaves. Under the initiative, the campuses document their green features and SBHP supports them with requisite technical knowledge. This enables the institutions to reduce their resource footprint and commit to a sustainable campus lifestyle. SBHP is working with many such campuses, to create awareness and sense of responsibility for our environment.

CSE organised its North Regional Conclave on “Green Sense: Educational Campus Inventory” in collaboration with GNDU on November 15-16, 2018. Prof. Indrani Ghoshal Basu, Dean, School of Architecture & Planning, was invited to attend this conclave. The one and half day conclave was hosted at GNDU for real time learning in its expansive 500 acre campus to demonstrate several model features and projects that qualify it to be a green campus. The event comprised of a series of technical and interactive sessions on greening of educational campuses.

Some of the topics of discussions from agenda include:

* Energy Management for Conservation and Efficiency in Buildings

* Envelope Shading vs Envelope Insulation for Energy Efficiency in Green Buildings

* Wastewater Management, Solid Waste Management in campus

* Green Buildings Concepts in GNDU

* Campus Mobility

* Rainwater Harvesting & Vermicomposting

* Green Campus Inventory Case: Gargi College, Delhi University

* Green Energy Initiative

At the end of the conclave, CSE and GNDU organised a GNDU Campus walkabout, guided by the professors and experts of GNDU, to showcase the initiative taken by GNDU towards sustainable green campus.
