Khadi Day Fashion Show 01-10-19

October 1, 2019
K.R. Mangalam University

School of fashion celebrated Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary on 1st Oct 2019 by organizing a fashion show based on khadi fabrics from 2:00-3:30 pm in sports hall, C block.
Khadi is a handspun, hand-woven natural fiber cloth that originated in India. It is also known as khaddar. The concept of khadi was invented by Mahatma Gandhi.
It was earlier used to create Indian origin ethnic garments however nowadays it is used in western garments as well.
It is eco-friendly cotton and the fiber is biodegradable, which is an important demand in today's world.
All the students actively participated in the show and represented their garment. The concept of the show was inspired by 'woman empowerment'. The theme was further divided in two groups- 'Udaan' and 'Shakti'.
The Udaan theme was inspired from freedom, happiness, joy etc and to represent all those emotions the fabric and silhouette were more flowy, voluminous and layered.
On the other hand ,theme 'Shakti' was inspired by power, freedom from boundaries, breaking the rules etc and to express all those emotions the fabrics and silhouettes were more structured, stiff and plotted.
There were two faculty who judge the show- Ms. Shikha Sharma (SJMC) and Ms.(Dr.) Seema Raj (SBAS).
