An Unprecedented High Quality Innovation in Crystal Growth
Nearly perfect crystals are in great demand in technological applications as well as in high quality basic research. In the ‘Engineering Kitchen’ of KRMU, a facility for melt growth of large-size crystals has been established by using unprecedented techniques like a furnace fabricated with clay used in pottery and achieving ~1000C, and a pulling mechanism, without employing any electrical motor.

School of Journalism and Mass Communication organized an interactive session by Mr. Gaurav Sharma. He is a Vancouver based author of Indian Origin who has many books to his credit at young age. His novel ‘God of the Sullied’ is the bestselling novel on Amazon. His other books include, ‘The Indian Story of an Author’ and a semi-autobiographical fiction ‘Gone are the Days’ which he completed writing in just ten months. Prior to Gone are the Days, Mr Sharma authored three textbooks related to the field of Journalism and Mass Communication.
He started the session by sharing his journey as an entrepreneur and author and discussed about the challenges and rewards of having own startup as he started an independent publishing house named ‘Think Tank Books’ while struggling to get his books published in big publishing houses. He also discussed the “Art of Writing” and stressed on the need to start writing whatsoever interests anyone with the firm belief in one’s instincts. He focused on hard work as a key to success.
