School of Journalism and Mass Communication organized a one-day workshop on “Art of Radio Scripting and Radio Jockeying” by Prof. Suresh Kumar Verma, A.J.K. Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Milia Islamia University on 11th February 2020. Mr. Verma has 15 years of experience in All India Radio where he worked as a Producer, Presenter & Manager of Programme. He has produced over Six Hundred Radio Features (Including Research and Script), Interviews, Discussions, Talks etc. for broadcast on Regional and National Level.

Prof. Verma highlighted that the art of radio scripting and jockeying lies in communication as a RJ performs multiple roles such as programming, scripting, PR etc. It is very important for a RJ to be versatile and be able make comments on news related to politics, culture, community welfare and media as it helps cater audience attention. Finding topics that helps connects with people, content presentation with basic voice modulation, music programming is also essential for radio jockeying. He concluded that the job of a Radio Jockey is diversifying in nature and the connection you build with the listeners even without viewership is absolutely enriching.

It was informative and learning experience for the students from School of Journalism and Mass Communication and School of Fashion. The session was coordinated by Ms. Mehak Pandit, Assistant Professor, SJMC.
