Visit to Parliament of India

The School of Legal Studies had the privilege of visiting the Parliament of India. The visit, aimed at giving students a deeper understanding of the workings of India’s legislative system. The day began with an insightful session where students were introduced to the structure, functions, and significance of the Parliament by the Guide assigned by the PRIDE. They visited the modern New Parliament Building, an architectural wonder designed to meet the growing demands of India’s legislative process. It was here that students saw firsthand how the legislative work has evolved with time. The visit gave them a unique opportunity to observe the ongoing sessions in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, providing an in-depth understanding of the debates and procedures that shape the laws of the country. The students were guided through the iconic Old Parliament Building, a symbol of India’s legislative history. This building, rich in heritage, provided students with a glimpse into the roots of India’s democratic journey. Highlights of the visit were the Parliament Library, a treasure trove of documents, books, and legislative records. Students were fascinated to learn about the role of this 2nd Largest library of India in supporting the research and documentation needed for the functioning of Parliament. Another significant part of the visit was the PRIDE Office (Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies).  This educational visit was an eye-opening experience for all the students. It allowed them to see the real-world application of their legal studies and deepened their understanding of the role of law in governance. The day was not just informative but also inspiring, and it undoubtedly sparked greater curiosity about the legislative processes that shape India’s future.
