Dr Ankit Kumar Singh is a journalist-turned-media academician with over five years of experience in sports journalism having worked with Lucknow and Mumbai editions of Hindustan Times. During his HT stint, he went on to cover several prestigious sporting events including Men’s One-Day Internationals (ODIs), Indian Premier League (IPL), Women’s ODIs and T20Is, Ranji Trophy, Premier Badminton League (PBL), MRF Car Rally, Khelo India Games and Mumbai Marathon. A recipient of UGC’s NET-JRF fellowship, he completed his PhD in Mass Communication from the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in 2021. During his PhD days, he was part of a team that developed course materials for MHRD’s E-Pathshala project. He is also the author of Kashi Calling – a book containing 58 columns he wrote for the Varanasi edition of Hindustan Times from 2014 to 2017. In 2019, he had the opportunity of working with the New Media Wing of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in New Delhi as well. When not teaching or watching/analysing sports, he loves to meditate with awareness of impermanence.
