Industrial Visit To “Akums Drugs And Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Haridwar

The School of Medical and Allied Sciences of K.R. Mangalam University, Gurugram conducted an industrial visit to “AKUMS DRUGS AND PHARMACEUTICALS LTD, Haridwar” on 27th September,2018 for the final year students of Bachelor of Pharmacy. The Dean of SMAS Prof Dr. Arun Garg arranged the visit. Ms Silky Sethy and Mr Sunil, coordinated this industrial visit for the students.
Akums is the largest contract manufacturing pharmaceutical company of India. The organization deals in the manufacturing and export of formulations in a wide spectrum of dosage forms therapeutic segments. The company is currently supplying to almost all Indian and multinational pharmaceutical companies across the globe. The 9 state-of-the-art facilities are dedicated to oral solid dosage forms (with separate units for beta lactum and non-beta lactum formulations), Oral liquid dosage forms, Sterile dosage forms (Injectable, eye, ear & nasal), hormonal (oral and injectable), Ointments & cosmetics, Ayurvedic, food supplements & nutraceuticals and animal health care. They have total 12 plants all over India, mostly in Haridwar and one in Guwahati, Assam. The students of K R Mangalam University visited the 7th plant Pure And Cure Healthcare Pvt LTD., a subsidiary of Akums.
The day started with an Introduction seminar in the seminar hall, where the students were enlightened about Akums by a documentary and a presentation. After that students were treated with breakfast. Then the students were divided into two teams and one faculty member in each team, guided by the plant coordinators of the industry to instruct them about the working of the industry. Students visited all the sections, including ware house, injectables, tablets and capsules manufacturing section, etc. In every section they were taught the proper rules and regulations and dressing before entering in the manufacturing section. They ended up with visiting the packaging section. The visit ended up with final interaction between the Plant Head and the students where they discussed their experiences about the day. The Akums team gave their warm wishes and shared words to have a warmer bond in future. On an ending note, the visit enlightened the practical knowledge of the students about various formulations.
