IP Process at K. R. Mangalam University
K.R. Mangalam University (KRMU) has set in place mechanisms and systems to structure the process of IP filing, prosecution, maintenance, and commercial exploitation of the invention / creation generated at KRMU under the provisions of IPR regimes in the country. IPR, Legal & Ethical Matters Cell at KRMU helps inventors to protect their invention including new product, new process, novel formulation/composition, or a combination since inception to the grant of IP. General procedure for IP process depicted in Figure 1. When students come up with an idea or invention, they can directly approach to the Cell or share detail at [email protected], Legal & Ethical Matters Cell will check the requirement for related IP protection and novelty/originality work. After evaluation of protectability of invention, the Cell takes further steps toward IP filing and prosecution. Also, K. R. Mangalam Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center (KEIC) at KRMU offers an incubation program to nurture start-ups, a state-of-the-art maker lab for prototyping and creative exploration, and coworking spaces that encourage students for collaborative ventures.
To motivate the students and create awareness about IPR, KRMU conduct industry-academia guest lectures, seminar, workshop on IPR as well as entrepreneurship.
