Job Overview: The Dean of Research is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the research activities of an academic institution or organization. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the research program, including developing and implementing a research strategic plan that aligns with the institution or organization’s overall strategic objectives.
- Manage and oversee the operations of the research program, including managing the budget, resources, and personnel.
- Foster a culture of excellence in research, encouraging high-quality research output, and ensuring compliance with ethical standards and research integrity.
- Promote interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers and establish partnerships with external organizations to enhance research opportunities and funding.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that govern the conduct of research, including grants and contracts management, intellectual property, and research compliance.
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and students to identify research opportunities and support the development of their research interests.
- Serve as a representative of the research program to the academic community, industry partners, government agencies, and other external stakeholders.
- Develop and oversee initiatives that promote research dissemination, including conferences, seminars, and publications.
- Promote the reputation of the institution or organization as a leading research institution by actively engaging with the media, attending conferences, and presenting research outcomes.
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in a related field and a record of significant scholarly achievement.
- At least ten years of experience in research management, preferably in an academic institution or research organization.
- A strong record of leadership and management experience, including budget management and personnel management.
- A deep understanding of research policies and procedures, including grants and contracts management, research compliance, and intellectual property.
- A record of successful interdisciplinary collaboration and experience in developing partnerships with external organizations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
- A strong commitment to ethical research practices and research integrity.
- A record of successful research dissemination, including publications, presentations, and conference participation.
