Professor Dr Krishan Lal

Dr Krishan Lal has contributed extensively to academics, research, scientific leadership, and global relationship development throughout a stellar experience of over six decades. A distinguished academic and a global leader, he has been bestowed with two honorary doctorates from Russian Academy of Sciences and Assam downtown University. He has been honoured by the Prime Minister of India during Indian Science Congress Session in 2014 and has earned a myriad of other accolades for an incredible contribution and achievements in multiple domains.

Prof. Lal accomplished M. Sc. in Physics from Agra University, Agra and Ph.D. in Solid State Physics, University of Delhi. He has delivered over 100 research papers in reputed journals, edited nine Volumes and acclaimed seven Patents. Dr Lal has held many prestigious positions worldwide including Lecturer in Physics: DAV College Muzaffar Nagar, Meerut College, Meerut and Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi; SSA, Solid State Physics Laboratory (DRDO), Delhi. Several Scientific positions at National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi 2000-2005 Director, National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi. CSIR Emeritus Scientist; INSA Senior Scientist and DST Ramanna Fellow; Laue-Bragg Chair Professor Amity University, Noida and Visiting Professor, University of Delhi, Delhi.

He is Honorary Professor, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and Honorary Professor for Life, University of Delhi, Delhi and Visiting Professor, Punjab University, Chandigarh. Besides, Dr Lal was IBM India Fellow, Thomas J. Watson Research Centre, New York; Visiting Professor, Univ. of Tokyo, Technical Univ. Darmstadt, and Sr. Visiting Scientist at PTB, Braunschweig, Co-Chair IAP for Science, the Global Network of Science Academies, President, the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA); President, Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi to mention a few.

Prof. Lal has enormously researched Solid State Physics; Materials Characterization; Crystal Growth & Lattice Imperfections, High Resolution X-ray Diffraction, Instrumentation; Quality Management, Certified Reference Materials and Data for Materials.
