BATTLE OF MINDS: INTER-UNIVERSITY DEBATE COMPETITION REPORT

On February 21, 2022, the School of Legal Studies of K.R. Mangalam University organized an Inter-University Debate competition on the theme “CryptoCurrency is a New Alternative”. Nineteen (19) students from other universities participated in this event. This event was organised under the guidance of Mr Thomas Monteiro and Ms Sakshi (Assistant Professor – SOLS)
The honourable judges of the competition were Dr Tanya Gupta, the Dean of School of Education & Dean of School of Humanities KR Mangalam University, Dr Neha, Assistant Professor in the School of Management and Commerce 
 
 
Prakhar (BJMC- KR Mangalam University) Dhruvi A. Shah (BA.LLB(Hons).-KR Mangalam University) welcomed the participants, judges and other guests of the competition.
The event consisted of two rounds – each participant was given serial numbers through a lot system. Serial numbers 1 and 2 followed by 3 and 4 and so on, came forward and chose another set of lots to decide whether they would be speaking for the resolution or against the resolution. In this round, each participant was given 3+1 minutes to put forward their views on the given resolution.
The second round of the competition was known as the Rebuttal round. Those who raised their hand on a first come first serve basis were given options to rebut the issues raised by their opponents. Each participant was given 1 minute in the rebuttal round to pose their question and answer the question asked by the opponents.
The winners of the competition were:
1.  Best debater speaking ‘for’ the motion- Yash Sharma, Bsc Agriculture, K R Mangalam University
2.  Best debater speaking ‘against’ the motion- Anshul Paughat, Bsc Agriculture
3.  Best rebuttal- Deepak Yadav from BBA. LLB(Hons.)  K R Mangalam University
The main objective of organizing this competition was to give exposure to the students and to groom them into the confident youth of society. This event was also organized to understand the trending and controversial topic of cryptocurrency and its impact on our present and future
 
 
At the end of the event, Dr Kaveri Sharma, Dean of Legal Studies, took her precious time out and distributed the certificates and cash prizes to the winners. Once the prize distribution was over, the event was concluded with a vote of thanks, presented by Timothy.
