Guest Lecture on Research Funding and International Cooperation from DST

To promote research and development activities among on campus researchers at K.R. Mangalam University, a Guest Lecture was organized for the faculty members on June 11, 2022, at 10.30 AM on the topic “Research Funding and International Cooperation from DST”. The resource person Dr. S.K. Varshney emphasized the fact that there are ample opportunities available for organizations/ individuals for tapping extramural funds from DST/DBT/DSIR/ DRDO/DOS/MHRD/ICAR/MNRE/MOEF /Meity/MOES/DAE etc.

Some of the organizations are either strategic departments or working in narrow domains, promoting particular themes/ fields however DST is engaged in promoting basic sciences, new interdisciplinary programs, innovations, etc.

63 faculty members attended this special lecture and learned about various schemes available at individual and at university departments level. Interaction with Govt luminaries motivates faculty to publish quality research which strengthens their application for extramural funding. 

It provides opportunities for scientific endeavors to school children, colleges, faculty, and universities departments through its various schemes like SERB-TDB, KVPY, INSPIRE, JRF, SRF, RA, PM fellowships, MANAK, AWSAR, TARE, SYST, Swarna Jayanti fellowships, Ramanujan fellowships, J.C. Bose fellowship, OVDF, SIRE, GROW, CRG, IMPRINT, FIST, ASEAN Fellowship, India S&T fellowship, funds for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre, and technology-based start-ups, etc.

It is very important for university leaders and faculty to have good knowledge of funding schemes available with various agencies so as strategize their research goals. These sessions are a must for university growth in terms of research, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and innovation development.
