K.R. Mangalam Fresher’s Start their Journey with a Bang at Ruoo Ba Ruoo 2021!

Every year, K.R. Mangalam University celebrates the arrival of new students, the Fresher’s, through a one-day event known by the name Ruoo Ba Ruoo. Etymologically meaning face-to-face, the event has always served as a major platform for helping Fresher’s get known to their seniors, university and their faculty. Maintaining the tradition of the University this year too, the Fresher’s Day, Ruoo Ba Ruoo, was celebrated on 17th December 2021. The initiative of celebrating Fresher’s Day was taken by the Student Welfare, K.R. Mangalam University. The event was organized at the University’s main ground and started at 11 AM. To assemble the students and to gain their attention, the Street Play team presented Nukkad Natak on the theme “Peer Pressure Faced by the Fresher’s”.

As per the tradition of the university, the event began with the prayers to Goddess Saraswati and an auspicious lamp lighting ceremony by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Deans of different departments, Dean and Assistant Dean, Student Welfare and members of Cultural Committee and other faculty members. Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) P. Tripathi blessed the students and shared her own experiences as a university student with the students. Bhumi presented Classical Dance and welcomed the audience. After this, the main event and a series of competitions started. There were solo dance performances and solo singing performances by the students. The participants were judged on different criteria by the Jury. Aarohan, the University’s singing group made performed and cheered the crowd. Selecting Ms And Mr Fresher’s is one of the important rituals of Fresher’s Day and the students at our university too were very excited for the same. The girls and boys participated in Ramp Walk and showcased their talents. They underwent various rounds and the questions were asked by the Jury. Ameya, the University’s dance group presented dance which was enjoyed by each one sitting there and gave a good dose of energy to the audience. The results of the competitions were declared. Mr Harshvardhan won the solo dance competition, Ms Preeti, Ms Garima and Ms Aakriti won the group dance competition and Mr Harshvardhan won the solo singing competition. Ms Bhoomi Chawra and Mr Parminder Singh were declared Ms Photogenic and Mr Photogenic. Ms Amrita Kaur and Mr Arpan won the titles of Ms Charming and Mr Handsome. Ms Khushi Kapoor and Mr Ishan Kalra won the titles of Ms Fresher’s and Mr Fresher’s.

The students were also seen enjoying the food being served at food stalls. To give our students a platform to showcase their talents and skills, they were encouraged to put up their stalls of food and games at the venue of the event. Few students took up the initiative and put up the food stalls. Besides, there were food stalls also put up by food vendors outside the university like Youth Café, Saini Dhaba, Mahender Maggie & Shakes Point etc. In all, there was a great variety of snacks and lunch available for the students to eat.

There was a break of around 20 minutes given to all for lunch and refreshments. After the break, there was a grand and a live performance by the Aawaaz Band. The band gained the attention of the audience sitting there right after their entry. The audience danced to the performance of the Band and enjoyed it a lot. The Band covered soulful Bollywood songs combined with a touch of rock, retro and Punjabi music. It was a team of 5 members who entertained the audience. The event was brought to an end at 4:00 PM with a lot of memories.
