Light Classical Music-Gazal Competition

With an objective to celebrate the rich tradition and heritage of India as well as to encourage cultural immersion by amalgamating spirituality and the beauty of melodious music; K. R. Mangalam University has organized Inter-university “Jashan-E-Ghazal” competition on 21st February 2022 at Sports Area, C-Block. The event started with the lighting of the lamp by chief guest Dr C. S Dubey, Vice-Chancellor, K. R. Mangalam University, Prof. (Dr.) Arun Garg, (Dean, School of Medical and Allied Sciences), Prof. (Dr.) Kiran Bala, Dr. Vineet Dahiya and Dr. Gurbir S Khera. Ms Neha Minocha, Assistant Professor, SMAS coordinated the event very well.



Music binds our souls, hearts and emotions and is the best method of relaxation. It cheers the spirit and lightens the heart. In fact, through singing children learn to express their feelings and ideas. Students of different colleges and universities across the country showcased their hidden talents with their melodious voices. The event was presided over by Prof Arun Garg, Dean and attended by the deans, faculty members and students from different universities. Students sang songs with a lot of passion, confidence and spiritual feeling. The melodious songs pulled the heartstrings of the audience. Each student showed their mastery over voice modulation, pitch, rhythm and tone. The students showcased their talent, self-esteem and self-confidence as a result of the competition.
Spectators thoroughly enjoyed the mellifluous group songs. Jury members comprising famous Ghazal singer Mr Navdeep (Manager, HDFC Life, Sonipat), Prof. (Dr.) Rohit Dutt (Dean- SMAS, G. D. Goenka University) and Prof. Arun Garg presented the first prize to Ritvik from K R Mangalam University, second prize to Lokesh from G. D Goenka University and third prize to Upasana and Chetas from K. R. Mangalam University. The judgement was based primarily on Sur, Taal and the confidence of the students. Judges were impressed with the confidence, the tonal quality and the fervour with which they sang the patriotic songs. Dr.Arun Garg (Dean SMAS) shared his views about the competition and also gave his valuable suggestions to help the students to do better in the future.
