SJMC Organizes Webinar in Collaboration with Sputnik News Agency on How to Counter Fake News

School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC), KR Mangalam University (KRMU), organised an online session on ‘New Take on Fake News: How to Detect, Dissect and Divert Them’ on December 21, 2021. The event was organized in collaboration with Sputnik News Agency. SJMC and Sputnik News Agency signed an MoU in October 04, 2021 and the institutions are organizing these events and activities to benefit the students of KR Mangalam University. 

The online session was conducted by Innovative Journalism Centre, Spuntik’s Editor Igor Krivitsky, and Deputy head, Natalia Shashina.

In a riveting two-hour session, Krivitsky and Shashina underlined various facets related to the spread of fake news before explaining how to detect and debunk it with practical demonstration. More than 40 students attended the event.
 
Sputnik India bureau chief, Olga Dycheva, was also present on this occasion and said the session was conducted to enlighten the media students of KRMU about the repercussions of fake news. 
 
Prof (Dr) Kiran Bala, Dean of SJMC thanked the speakers and highlighted the professional bond between the two organizations for the purpose of strengthening bilateral relations in journalism and media-related cooperation.
