Scholars are required to devote full time on campus for Ph.D. Some scholars may be offered teaching/research/project assistantship. Those selected for the same will be required to assist in teaching/laboratories and other developmental work under the guidance of mentor.Part Time Scholars: –

The Ph.D. programme is based on the research carried out by the scholars under the guidance of Supervisor/Co-Supervisor(s) and the programme duration is dependent upon the completion of the chosen research by the scholars. The research work is characterized either by discovery of new facts or proposition of a new theory/theories or by fresh interpretation of known facts. It should bear evidence of the scholars’ capacity for analysis and judgment as well as his/her ability to carry out independent investigation, design or development. All admitted scholars are provisionally registered in to the programme and are required to do a mandatory minimum course work of 12 credits. Upon successful completion of the course work, the student shall identify supervisor/co-supervisor(s) and in consultation prepare a detailed Research Proposal/Synopsys of the research s/he want to carry out. After the approval of the Synopsis and supervisor/co-supervisor(s), students are formally registered in to Ph.D. programme. This must normally be done within one year of admission. After formal registration, scholar proceeds with research and is required to submit his/her progress report at the end of every semester and make a presentation to School Research Committee (SRC). The minimum period after which a scholar can submit the dissertation is three years from the date of admission and the maximum period allowed is 6 years. Women scholars and persons with more than 40% disability may be given a relaxation of 2 years as per UGC norms. On completion of the research work, the scholar has to submit summary
(synopsis) of the research work and make a presentation to SRC. Before submitting the dissertation, the scholar should publish at least one paper from the research work in refereed journals and two presentations in the conference. The dissertation must be a piece of original work free from any plagiarism. The final dissertation is evaluated by examiners and scholar has to defend it.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for written examination and interview. They will be required to pay a Registration-cum-Processing fee of Rs. 5000/- (Non-Refundable). Admission to Ph.D. Programme will be based on the overall performance in Post Graduate Degree, Entrance Examination and Personal Interview. Preference will be given to CSIR/UGC NET qualified candidates and those having sponsored projects.Written Entrance Examination: –
It will broadly test the research aptitude and ability to comprehend. Candidates with NET, SLET, GATE, MPAT, M.Phil. or equivalent qualification may be exempted from Entrance Examination. Admission to Ph.D. Programme will be based on the overall performance in Post Graduate degree, Entrance Examination, Personal Interview, and facilities available. Preference will be given to CSIR/UGC NET qualified candidates and those having sponsored projects.Personal Interview: –
Candidates who clear the written entrance examination will be selected for Personal Interview. The interview will be conducted by the Interview Board of the University to comprehensively judge in depth of knowledge in the concerned subject/area and ability to do research. Admitted candidates will be required to pay the first instalment of the Ph.D. programme fee and security deposit within the specified time to confirm the admission.
