Introduction
National Pharmacy Education Day was celebrated on March 11th at K.R. Mangalam University by the School of Medical and Allied Sciences, in honor of the birth anniversary of Professor Mahadeva Lal Schroff, who established pharmacy education in India.
The National Pharmacy Education Day is celebrated on the 6th March of every year. The day was designated by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) – a statutory body under the Ministry of Health, regulating pharmacy education and practice in India.
National Pharmacy Education Day is a significant occasion celebrated with the theme “Pharma Anveshan 2024: Leveraging Synergism—Industrial-Academia Partnership for Implementation of National Education Policy, 2020.”
The celebration aimed to recognize the vital role of pharmacy education in shaping the future of healthcare. This day serves as an opportunity to honor pharmacists, educators, and students dedicated to advancing pharmaceutical knowledge and practice.
On this day, institutions, organizations, and individuals come together to raise awareness about the importance of pharmacy education and its impact on healthcare outcomes. It is a time to celebrate achievements in pharmacy education and inspire future generations of pharmacists to pursue excellence in their studies and practice, as well as to promote the National Education Policy, 2020.
Relevance
- Pharmacy education plays a crucial role in training pharmacists who are equipped with the skills and knowledge to ensure the safe and effective use of medications.
- The implementation of NEP 2020 in pharmacy curriculum, by embracing interdisciplinary collaboration, integrating diverse perspectives, and fostering innovation, prepares students to meet the dynamic needs of the healthcare sector and contribute effectively to improving patient outcomes and public health.
Objectives
The primary objectives of the guest speakers were to:
- Introduce students to the concept of implementation of NEP 2020 in the Pharmacy Curriculum.
- Acknowledge the students for clinical practice through internships, projects, and interdisciplinary case studies in the curriculum, enabling them to work collaboratively with the pharma industry from diverse backgrounds.
- Provide insights into the global regulatory framework governing pharma-based projects.
Methodology
The event utilized a combination of didactic presentations, case studies, and interactive panel discussions to encourage the students. Guest speakers, including experts from the pharmaceutical industry, shared their insights and experiences in the field of research. Visual aids such as slides, videos, and infographics were also used to enhance comprehension and retention of key concepts.

The event lecture covered the following key topics:
- The First Speaker Dr. Om Prakash spoke on “Multi-Disciplinary Approach for Implementation of NEP 2020 in Pharmacy Curriculum.”
- The Second Speaker Dr. Kausar Neyaz spoke on “Cervical Cancer Prevention: HPV Vaccine – Right Dose at Right Age.”
Outcomes
The celebration served as a platform to recognize the vital role of pharmacy education in the Pharma industry. It fostered awareness about the importance of pharmacy education among students, faculty, and the wider community and highlighted the multifaceted role of pharmacists in the healthcare industry, including medication management, patient education, and promoting health and wellness.
The event also provided networking and employment opportunities, showcased knowledge about the pharma industry and research, and promoted best practices in pharmacy education. Through guest lectures and panel discussions, participants engaged in professional development activities that enhanced their skills and knowledge in the pharmacy field.
Conclusion
Identification and adaptation of better career options is the current demand worldwide. Awareness among students and faculties is essential for providing better career opportunities available within the Pharma Sector.
Dr. Kausar Neyaz offered the students projects and internships at Aabir Bio-Services Foundation, New Delhi.
The speakers were conducted with the prompt mission of uplifting students in the Pharma industry and making Pharma graduates and faculties aware of the wide range of job opportunities in the field of Pharmacy.
