Planners are involved in design, planning and construction of human settlements, cities and towns. Planning of cities and regions has become very complex due to technological advancements and integration of societies and economies of the world. Hence, professionally trained planners are needed for the development and management of human settlements. Government itself has promised to deliver 100 smart cities which give a fair idea of the huge scope this field offers. Bachelor of Planning program has been designed to provide knowledge and skills required to make meaningful contribution in shaping our urban infrastructure with special emphasis on ethics, professionalism and environment.
Basic design, Materials & Principles of Construction, Urban & Regional Planning, Transportation Planning, Building Structures, Surveying, Specification, Estimation and Valuation, Computer aided design etc.
Graduates may start working as professional planners for Government or Private Enterprises. Government Departments related to Urban and Town Planning: Housing Schemes, Transportation Projects (Highways, Railways and Metros etc), Construction and Rehabilitation projects; PWD Municipal Corporation jobs; etc. Public Structure Construction firms (PPP model like roads and bridges etc); NGOs etc also recruit planning professionals. Admission to master's programmes in Indian and foreign universities with specializations such as housing, landscape architecture, transport planning, architectural conservation, environmental planning, urban design, etc.
Candidates who have passed in 10+2 examination conducted by C.B.S.E. or equivalent, with Mathematics as compulsory subject with an overall aggregate of 50% can apply for this course.
