JUDGMENT WRITING COMPETITION 2022

The Department of School of Legal Studies, K.R. Mangalam University organized a Judgment Writing Competition on February 22, 2022, from 10:30 AM to 1 PM. The Judgment Writing Competition, 2022 had been conceived with the aim to cultivate the art of writing judgments among students. The Competition was open to the students who are pursuing an integrated 5-year LL.B programme or pursuing a 3-year LL.B. program. The main objective of Judgment writing was to engage the students with multi-tasking of both creative lawyering and innovative judging.

The judgment writing competition was held in a hybrid mode. A total of 6 registrations were for the competition. The judge for the competition was Dr. Sulakshana Banerjee Mukherjee, Assistant Professor in School of Law, Sushant University (Erstwhile Ansal University), Gurugram, Haryana. She is renowned for her commendable performances all through her academic career and has been acknowledged with gold medals, awards, scholarships, etc. The criteria for the evaluation of the judgment were Clarity and coherence in the language, Inclusion & Interpretation of Facts, Identification of Issues involved, Application of legal provisions, and Final Judgment (Reasoning).

The first position was secured by Ritika Vats (B.A. LLB) from KRMU, with a cash prize of INR 1500. The second position was secured by Jai Sikand (B.B.A. LLB), with a cash prize of INR 1000. The third position was grabbed by Akash Godara (B.A. LLB), with a cash prize of INR 500. All the participants and winners were awarded the certificates as well.

The event was made possible with continued efforts and time put in by faculty coordinator Dr. Archana Vashishth, Assistant Professor in the School of Legal Studie at K. R. Mangalam University, and student coordinator Yukti Sharma.

It was a great initiative taken by the School of Legal Studies, for conducting this wonderful competition of knowledge sharing and gaining, especially during this difficult time of the pandemic.
