Prior to joining K. R. Mangalam University, Gurgaon, Dr. Rahul Boadh, he worked in Annashab Dange College of Engineering and Technology, Ashta, Maharashtra and Madanapalle Institute of Technology and Science, Madanapalle Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Rahul Boadh had a strong curiosity for mathematics. To discover the allegory and defies in the arena of applied mathematics, Dr. Boadh chooses the ground of applied mathematics which opens the gate in all arena of technical learning. He did his B.Sc and M.Sc from CCS University, Meerut (U.P.) but the turning point of his life came when he got the opportunity to pursue M.Tech in Atmospheric Science from IIT Kharagpur (W.B.). During his stay at IIT Kharagpur Dr. Boadh came in interaction of various renowned personalities in the arena of mathematics.

Dr. ANV Satyanarayana and Dr. TVBPS Rama Krishan molded and inspired Dr. Boadh’s life to advance grip in the dome of research in applied mathematics. Dr. Boadh completed his M.Tech in 2011. Dissertation in supervision of Dr. ANV Satyanarayana (Associate Professor), IIT Kharagpur and Dr. TVBPS Rama Krishan form CSIR- National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) Hyderabad Zonal Laboratory, India IICT Campus. After completing his M.Tech. Dr. Boadh joined as a research scholar in PhD programme in IIT Kharagpur. After PhD in August 2015 Dr. Boadh joined as research associate in the project titled “Development of a real-time short-term ocean hindcast/forecast system with advanced initialization and DA capability for the Bay of Bengal (OTB)”.   • Research Associate
    Project Title: - Development of a real-time short-term ocean hindcast/forecast system with advanced initialization and DA capability for the Bay of Bengal (OTB)
    The monsoon intensity over the Bay of Bengal (BOB) is projected to increase according to the fifth assessment report of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). In this scenario, distribution of freshwater flux over the BOB can change from the present scenario. We have studied the influence of this projected variations in freshwater fluxes on the mesoscale eddies in the BOB using Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS). The ROMS was setup over the BOB basin with 10 km X 10 km horizontal resolution and 32 vertical levels. The Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set (COADS) of heat and wind flux has been used for simulation of model. Climatological simulations were carried out and the simulated circulation features compared very well with observations. Further, experiments were carried out to study the projected changes in characteristic features of BOB during two hypothetical scenarios. In the first hypostatical case we have studied the effects of actual precipitation of characteristic features over the BOB. While in the second experiment the effects of decreased precipitation over the BOB on the circulation features are studied.
  • Ph.D. Research Work: - Dispersion of Oxides of Nitrogen using offline coupled Mesoscale Atmospheric and Dispersion Models over Inland and Coastal Regions
    My research during my PhD deals with numerical simulation studies on Regional meteorological flows and pollutant dispersion at two different regions. The objectives include the identification of meso-scale circulations that influence the pollutant transport and dispersion. In most of the metro cities, it is necessary to find the dispersion and ground level concentration (GLCs) of the pollutants emitted from the industries. My current research focus on two major cities of India: the coastal city of Visakhapatnam and inland station Nagpur. I am using American Meteorological Society (AMS) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regulatory Model (AERMOD) for simulation of pollutant dispersion over both study regions. This model requires surface and upper air meteorological observations and various PBL parameters with good temporal resolution in the stand alone mode which are mostly unavailable over Indian region. To fill this gap, I am using meso-scale Numerical Whether Prediction (NWP) model namely Advanced Research Weather Research and Forecast (WRF-ARW) to get these boundary layer parameters which will be offline coupled with AERMOD.
  • M.Tech. Research Work: -Assessment of Dispersion of Air Pollutants Using AERMOD and ISCST-3 Models
    My research during my M. Tech Project of one year duration was focused on to understand numerical modeling for the pollution dispersion in the urban scale. An attempt has been made to simulate the pollution dispersion using a recently developed Numerical model namely AERMOD. Comprehensive atmospheric boundary layer processes are incorporated in this model. Validation of AERMOD model derived boundary layer parameters was conducted with the available observations. I also used ISCST-3 model to simulate atmospheric dispersion at the same site and an inter-comparison study of the performance of these models was conducted. For this purpose, during the period of the study, important surface meteorological variables and atmospheric boundary layer parameters were estimated using the field experiment data observed at Ranchi during pre-monsoon period of 2010 as well as the upper air measurements. Stability classification and estimation of mixing heights has been done during the period of the study. Atmospheric surface layer parameters computed by AERMOD were validated with the observations. The results indicate that boundary layer process which influence the dispersion of the pollutants are better represented in AERMOD model. Spatial distribution of air pollutants such as SO2, NOX and PM10 over are estimated using AERMOD and ISCST-3 over Ranchi. Dispersion patterns were compared with the wind roses. Validation of the concentration distribution of air pollutants of these models were done and found that AERMOD is performing better than ISCST-3.
