VISIT TO “LAAL HAVELI” AT SILANI VILLAGE

February 14 & 18 , 2018
Laal haveli, Sohna

The first year students of School of Architecture & Planning visited Laal haveli at village Silani, Sohna, Gurgaon accompanied by two faculty members Ar. Shivani Singh & Mr. Sujith Sudhakaran for two days, 14th & 18th Febrauary 2019. This is in accordance to the curriculum of Architectural Design II under measure drawing.

The first day students measured the interior portion of the Haveli which is a great example of vernacular architecture present near the vicinity of the University. The students used measuring tapes & foot for measuring various interior parts for drawing the layout of the Haveli on scale. The students were told by the care taker of the Haveli that it is almost a century old but very well restored by the owner.

It is built on two floors with main purpose as a residence. Students are asked to make representation drawings (floor plans, elevation, and section) with help of measurements taken on site. Overall the visit to this Haveli was very interesting and informative.
