After formal registration, the scholar proceeds with research and is required to submit his/her progress report at the end of every semester and make a presentation to the School Research Committee (SRC). The minimum period after which a scholar can submit the dissertation is three years from the date of admission, and the maximum period allowed is six years. Women scholars and scholars with more than 40% disability may be given a relaxation of 2 years as per UGC norms. On completion of the research work, the scholar has to submit a summary (synopsis) of the research work and make a presentation to SRC. Before submitting the dissertation, the scholar should publish at least one paper from the research work in refereed journals and two presentations at the conference. The dissertation must be a piece of original work free from any plagiarism. The final dissertation is evaluated by examiners and scholars have to defend it.
