Civil Engineering Labs

Geotechnical Engineering Lab

The student will gain hands-on experience in conducting soil laboratory tests to determine soil parameters needed for geotechnical engineering design and to communicate this information with others. Besides, the laboratory is equipped for the determination of moisture content, density, and plastic limit, and liquid limit, shrinkage limit, bearing capacity, grain size distribution, and the specific gravity of soil.

Soil Mechanics Lab

The soil lab provides academic and research services through performing all lab tests needed for analysis and study of soil characteristics and their properties.

Foundation Engineering Lab

The loads from any structure must be transmitted to the soil through the foundation for the structure. Thus, the foundation is an important part of a structure, the type, and details of which can be decided only with the knowledge and application of the principles of soil mechanics.

Engineering Geology Lab

The Geology lab is used for experiments related to crystallography and mineralogy. State-of-the-art facilities are also available for experiments on structural geology.

Structure Analysis Lab

The Structural Analysis Lab facilitates the determination of the effects of loads on physical structures and their components. Results of the analysis are used to verify a structure’s fitness for use.

Environmental Engineering Lab

The Environmental Lab comprises modern and technically advanced instruments needed for water and wastewater analyses. The lab also has several in-situ devices and equipment to perform different types of measurements and to grab composite water, wastewater samples.

Transportation Engineering Lab

Transportation lab consists of equipment used in the testing of bituminous materials such as viscosity, ductility, and plasticity and other devices for superpave testing of bitumen and aggregates. There are other devices for hybrid design by both Superpave and Marshall Methods.

The CAD Lab is equipped with AutoCAD software used for designing and drawing. The knowledge gained in the lab eventually assists the students in delivering quality services throughout their employment in the industry.

Surveying Lab

The survey lab is used for surveying exercises and is equipped with all the latest instrumentation viz. levels, total stations, and GPS receiver sets for conducting ground surveying works.

Fluid Mechanics Lab

Basic knowledge of Fluid mechanics is essential for all civil engineers because they frequently come across several problems involving the flow of fluids, the force of fluid on structural surfaces, etc. This laboratory is used for experimentation on the properties and behavior of fluids.

Fluid Machines Lab

The Fluid laboratory is equipped with all the facilities and experimental setup to demonstrate and make students understand various mensuration methods of flow rates, capacity & velocity of water in tanks, closed pipes, and open channels.

Building Material Lab

The Building Material Lab is designed strategically with an experimental setup required to study the properties of building materials.

Construction and Concrete Technology Lab

The behavior and properties of structural materials, e.g. concrete, cement, and sand, can be better understood by detailed, well-designed, first-hand experience of these materials. The students will become familiar with the nature and properties of construction materials by conducting laboratory tests.
