About Course

The programme is enriching yet challenging, suited for varying interests and career ambition of student in the area of economics. The objective of the course is to encourage critical, evaluative and strategic ways of thinking using principles of Economics. The programme is designed to generate an appreciation of the economic dimensions extending to social, political, environmental and international issues. The programme focuses on the systematic study of production, distribution, conservation and allocation of limited resources and conditions of scarcity in society, together with the organizational frameworks related to these processes.

Career Options

A degree in M.A Economics gives a strong foundation for teaching in Higher Education with M. Phil.in colleges and with Ph.D. /NET in Universities. Every corporation, financial service provider, financial institutions, consultancy firm and public as well as government sector bank have positions for economists, research associates, research analysts, budget managers, economic advisory, and econometrician. Students have an option of writing the Indian Economics or Statistical Service Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Examination to get into higher posts available in the government sector and also in Planning Commission, RBI, World Bank, IMF etc.

Eligibility Criteria

The minimum eligibility criterion required for the candidates is to possess a Bachelor's degree in respective subject or relevant discipline from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate score of 50%.
