CYBER CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN IN DELHI

Students of School of Legal Studies under the supervision of Ms.Sulakshana Mukherjee,Assistant Professor of Law,K.R Mangalam University participated in the National Conference on “ CYBER CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN IN DELHI” held at NDMC Convention Centre,New Delhi on 8th- 9th March,2019. The Conference was conducted to apprise the students how to protect and secure themselves while dealing with cyber space. With the advancement of technology electronic equipment and the internet have become an integral part of life.Cyber criminals choose women as soft targets .Accordingly,cyber crimes against women have increased sharply.The objective of the Conference was to sensitize significant sections of the public on the need to create awareness of the legal and other methods available for the protection of women in the capital city.If women in Delhi have to live in fear of cyber criminals then one can imagine the mental trauma of women in general.

Eminent persons , namely,SH.Sanjay Singh IPS,Special Commissioner of Police,New Delhi ,Dr.Rajender Dhar Addl.Labour Commissioner ,Govt.of Delhi,SH.Rajiv Ranjan ,Addl.Commissioner of Delhi Police,Mr.Vijay Gaur Secretary General of Bhagidari Jan Sahyog Samiti addressed to the students in different sessions.

The National Conference concluded by conferring the “ Women Empowerment Award” on : Ms. Aman Singh, Chief Editor ,Security Today Magazine,Prof.Dr. Ritu Gupta , Professor,NLU,New Delhi,Dr. Kanupriya ,Dean of Law ,Ansal University,Dr.Kiranbala ,Dean of Journalism and Mass Communication ,K.R Mangalam University,Prof.Sulakshana Mukherjee,Assistant Professor of Law,K.R Mangalam University .The awardees addressed the dignitaries and the participants to explain the necessity of cyber securityfor women.Different provisions of Information Technology Act,2000 and Indian Penal Code were highlighted to give a vivid idea about the legal protection available to women. Students from the School of Legal Studies,K.R Mangalam University gave valuable suggestions in the Presentation and Recommendation session of the National Conference.Among them Aditya Malhotra student of LLB(H) IVth Sem secured the second prize for his Recommendation and won the cash prize of Rs,3000/- ,a medal and a memento. Ms.Deeksha Tewari ,Assistant Professor of School of Legal Studies also participated and was conferred with participation medals and certificates. Other participating students were also given participation certificates and medals. These students were : Sagar,Nikita, Salman and Rupali from LLB(H) IIIrd Sem,Annu Kumari,Riddhi,Vrinda from LLB(H),IVth Sem,Pratiksha from BA LLB(H) IVth Sem,Tushar and Dinesh Yadav from BA LLB(H) IInd Sem,Mahima and Dev Inder from BA LLB(H) VI Sem and Ishwar Sharma and Abhyudaya from LLB(H) VIth Semester.

In a special session the Delhi women Police showed a live demo of how to use self-defence techniques for security and safety in case of any undesirable incident . They portrayed very clearly the tricks that an ordinary citizen needs to apply in case of any sudden attack and physical harassment .Overall the Conference provided an excellent opportunity to students and teachers in academia for self protection and security.
