Special Lecture on Rule of Law

School of Legal Studies organized a Special Lecture- V on “Rule of Law under Tension” as a part of Motilal Nehru Lecture Series. The Chief guest of the event was Professor B.B.Pande. Professor Mehraj Mir, the chair professor of Motilal Nehru Chair also joined the event. The main purpose of this event was to explore various aspects related to the rule of law, human rights, and the societal impact of legal systems. Professor B.B.Pande in his speech emphasized on the importance of rule of law and how it is in tension today. He discussed the tensions and challenges faced by the rule of law, such as transgressions of legal processes, selective deployment of laws, majoritarian faith-oriented re-imaginations and balancing economic interests to promote greater equality. Through this, the attendees gained a deep understanding of what is rule of law and how it is under tension.
