About the Role
K.R. Mangalam University is seeking a dynamic and experienced design professional to lead its B.Des in UI-UX & Interaction Design program. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in user-centered design, product thinking, and digital experience design, along with the ability to mentor students and build an industry-aligned curriculum.
The Head of Program will play a key role in shaping future design leaders through curriculum development, academic operations, and partnerships with leading design firms and digital product organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
- Lead academic planning, syllabus structuring, and curriculum development for the B.Des UI/UX & Interaction Design program.
- Mentor faculty and guide students in best practices for UX research, design thinking, interaction design, and product design.
- Ensure academic delivery meets the highest standards of design education and aligns with industry expectations.
Program Development & Management
- Establish academic and pedagogical strategies for skill-based, experiential learning.
- Drive innovation in teaching through integration of new tools (Figma, Adobe XD, AI-based design tools, etc.) and emerging design trends.
- Organize design juries, workshops, masterclasses, and industry talks.
- Oversee internship support, placements, and live project collaborations.
Industry and Research Engagement
- Build partnerships with design agencies, startups, and product companies.
- Encourage faculty and student-led research in emerging design domains such as service design, design systems, and AI in UX.
- Facilitate collaborations for events, hackathons, and professional design showcases.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the Dean and university leadership for academic planning, timetabling, and reporting.
- Manage the performance of teaching and support staff under the program.
- Ensure adherence to university quality benchmarks, accreditation frameworks, and documentation standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design (preferred specialization in UX/UI, Interaction Design, or related field) from a recognized institute.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, or related industry roles.
- Prior teaching, mentoring, or academic coordination experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of user research, prototyping, usability testing, and design systems.

- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Miro).
