Ph.D. in Economics awarded by School of Liberal Arts (SOLA) is an advanced research degree that involves a significant component of training and Ph.D. dissertation writing, followed by a comprehensive examination of the candidate’s knowledge on the subject of the thesis. In this programme, students examine fundamental concepts in economics including economic systems, microeconomics and macroeconomics, monetary policy and fiscal policy, international trade and finance, labor markets and business cycles. Ph.D. in economics is the highest degree awarded by the School of Liberal Arts, K.R. Mangalam University for this field of study. The purpose of a Ph.D. programme in economics is to prepare students to be able to conduct original research on an advanced level and ultimately contribute new knowledge through their work.

Eligibility

The candidate should have a postgraduate degree or its equivalent from a recognized University, in a respective discipline, with a minimum of 55% marks or a minimum CGPA of 5.5 on a 10 point scale.

Full-Time Scholars

Scholars are required to devote full time on campus for the Ph.D.programme. Some scholars may be offered a teaching/research/project assistantship. The selected scholars will be required to assist in teaching/laboratories and other developmental work under the guidance of a mentor.

Employees of organizations/industries having collaborations with the university can enroll under this category.

Ph.D. Admission Process

Candidates are required to download the Ph.D. admission form from the university website (click here) and submit it completely filled in all respects with copies of all the documents. Shortlisted candidates will be called for written examination and interview. They will be required to pay a Registration-cum-Processing fee of INR 5000 (Refundable).


Admission to Ph.D. in CSE programme will be based on the overall performance in Post Graduate degree, Entrance Examination, Personal Interview and positions available. Preference will be given to CSIR/UGC NET qualified candidates and those having sponsored projects.

Selection Process

WRITTEN ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

It will broadly test the research aptitude and ability to comprehend.

Candidates with NET, GATE, M Phil. or equivalent qualifications may be exempted from the entrance examination.

PERSONAL INTERVIEW

Candidates who clear the written entrance examination will be selected for the personal interview The interview will be conducted by the Interview Board of the University to comprehensively judge in-depth knowledge in the concerned subject/area and ability to do research.

Admitted candidates witl be required to pay the first installment of the Ph.Dprogramme fee and security deposit within the specified time to confirm admission.
