In a proactive effort to combat the growing threat of drug addiction among the youth, the School of Medical and Allied Sciences in collaboration with NSS, KRMU Organized an extension activity on ” Drug Addiction: The Menace of Youth’s Future” in Berka Village. The primary aim of this initiative to inform the local community about the perils of drug addiction and promote preventive measures were successfully met. Engaging slogans further reinforced the campaign’s message and counseling sessions provided attendees with valuable insights and support.

School of Medical and Allied Sciences students organized a farewell party for their seniors of Batch 2020. The farewell aptly named “Adios” aimed to create lasting memories and celebrate the achievements and contributions of their seniors. Tags such as Miss Bubbly, Miss Social Butterfly, Mr. Fitness Freak and Mr. All Rounder were given to them. A variety of engaging activities and games were planned to ensure everyone had a great time. These included musical chairs, where participants enjoyed a fun and competitive game; a ramp walk, allowing them to showcase their style and confidence; and dumb charades, which challenged teams to guess phrases through creative acting. The farewell ended with a candle ceremony leaving many a teary eye.

The School of Medical and Allied Sciences has organized a field visit entitled “Exploring Nature`s Richness & Medicinal Plant Potential to broaden understanding of Pharmacognosy & sustainable healthcare practices” at Tau Devi Lal Biodiversity Park, 56 Sector Gurugram. The field visit was for first-year students studying D.Pharm. Students were enthralled by the vast array of medicinal plants and got to learn about the importance of plants in traditional medicine covering the curriculum. In conclusion, the School of Medical and Allied Sciences’ visit to the biodiversity Park and exploration of medicinal plants has undoubtedly broadened students’ understanding of pharmacognosy.

The School of Medical and Allied Sciences organised a field visit to the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB), New Delhi. The visit, themed “A Journey Through Pharmaceutical Excellence,” aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the pharmaceutical sector. Students explored key departments such as behaviour analysis, genomics, and formulation, witnessing firsthand how theoretical concepts are applied in pharmaceutical development and research. Interactions with professionals deepened their understanding of data management, vaccine design, and drug formulation processes. The visit was highly educational, expanding students’ practical knowledge and providing valuable insights into pharmaceutical development.

The School of Medical and Allied Sciences organized a field visit to Patanjali Chikitsalaya, Badshahpur, Gurugram to Explore Ayurveda: A journey into Holistic Healing and Sustainable Healthcare” This visit deepened student’s understanding of Ayurveda’s holistic approach, emphasizing the balance of the doshas for optimal health and highlighted the importance of sustainable healthcare practices, showcasing the use of local, seasonal medicinal plants. The visit also reinforced Ayurveda’s focus on preventive care, underscoring the role of diet and lifestyle in maintaining good health.

The School of Medical and Allied Sciences organised a field visit to Park Hospital for D. Pharm students. The visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into the role of pharmacists in healthcare. Students learned how pharmacists manage medications, ensure patient safety, and collaborate with doctors and nurses to provide effective care. Students observed pharmacists in drug distribution, medication review, and patient counseling. This visit highlighted the crucial role of pharmacists in healthcare, enhancing students’ practical understanding and preparing them for their future careers.

The School of Medical and Allied Sciences organised a field visit for pharmacy students to the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) in Faridabad. The visit, themed “Exploring Quality and Innovation in Pharmaceuticals,” aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the pharmaceutical industry by connecting their academic knowledge with real-world practices. During the visit, students explored key departments, including Drug Discovery, Drug Designing, the Immunology Core Laboratory, the Data Management Centre, and the Vaccine Design and Development Centre. These visits allowed the students to observe the application of theoretical concepts in pharmaceutical research and development. The visit was highly informative, offering students a comprehensive insight into pharmaceutical development and enhancing their practical knowledge.

Health Society, K.R. Mangalam University, in collaboration with Whistle and Smile and Clove Dental, successfully conducted a three-day Free Dental, Health & Eye Check-Up Medical Screening Program from the 27th to the 29th of May 2024. Held at the OPD Physiotherapy Center on campus, the event aimed to promote health awareness and preventive care among students and staff. The key event highlights for the event were Comprehensive Health Services wherein free dental check-ups, general health screenings, and eye exams to over 500 participants. Experienced professionals from Clove Dental and Whistle and Smile conducted thorough examinations, ensuring high-quality care for all attendees. Dentists performed detailed dental examinations, offering preventive advice and identifying issues such as cavities, gum disease, and other oral health concerns. General health check-ups included measuring blood pressure, cholesterol levels, Body Mass Density(BMD) and Body Mass Index (BMI). These screenings helped identify potential health risks, enabling early intervention and promoting healthier lifestyle choices. This initiative underscored the Health Society’s commitment to the well-being of the university community.

School of Medical and Allied Sciences in collaboration with Scrollwell.com organized an interactive hands-on training session on ICT-based Teaching learning approaches -Awareness of Trends and Technology. The guest speaker for the event was Mr Roshan Kumar, an experienced Graphic designer, Skilled in Business Planning, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, and Social Media Marketing and an ace automobile engineer, and an MBA from the National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar and creator of Scroll well. He gave hands-on demonstration training on e-learning and the implementation of AI software for the improvement of academics and science. He threw light on user-friendly software such as ChatGPT, Google Bard, Canva, Microsoft Xcel and PNS as an E-learning tool that can be used by teachers as well students.

The School of Medical and Allied Sciences hosted the Health Plus “Monitoring Wellness in Our Neighborhood” event, within the adopted villages of K.R. Mangalam University. The primary objective of the event was to monitor diabetes patients within the villager community and provide essential information about both non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatments. Through informative sessions and interactive workshops, attendees gained insights into effective diabetes management techniques, emphasizing lifestyle modifications and medication adherence.

The School of Medical and Allied Sciences (SMAS) organized an ice-breaking activity titled “Laughs & Learning Fiesta: Creative Ice Breakers for Freshers.” The event aimed at helping new students connect with peers in a fun, welcoming environment, easing initial anxieties and fostering comfortable interactions. The event began with an overview of the day’s interactive sessions, which included activities like Name Action, the Newspaper Tower Challenge, and the Stack & Run Challenge. These activities were designed to promote teamwork, enhance communication skills, and ease the transition into academic life. The “Laughs & Learning Fiesta: Creative Ice Breakers for Freshers” was a resounding success, fulfilling its objective of breaking the ice and fostering a sense of community among the freshers. The participants engaged enthusiastically in all the activities, making new friends, and learning the importance of teamwork, communication, and creativity.

School of Medical and Allied Sciences organised an enlightening industrial visit for students to Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd. in Sonipat, Haryana. During this industrial visit, students observed the meticulous process involved in producing Yakult. This includes preparation, fermentation, homogenization, filling, and packaging, all conducted under strict quality control and safety standards. The engaging presentations delivered by Yakult’s team provided a deep understanding of the complex processes involved in probiotic production, including quality assurance measures. Interactive sessions further enhanced our learning experience, emphasizing the critical role of probiotics in supporting human health.

School of Medical & Allied Sciences (SMAS) visited Medicamen Biotech Shivalik Rasayan in Bhiwadi. The visit provided an in-depth exploration of the pharmaceutical manufacturing process. Students began by observing the production of solid dosage forms, such as capsules, tablets, and granules, understanding the technology and machinery involved. They then moved on to the liquid dosage forms section, where syrups, suspensions, and other liquid medications are produced, learning about formulation and scaling up production. A highlight of the visit was the Oncology Lab, where anti-cancer medicines are made, giving students insight into the life-saving production of cancer treatments. They also toured the Research & Development (R&D) Center and Wet Labs, gaining knowledge about the synthesis of new molecules.

Mr. Nitesh Kumar, an upcoming lawyer and writer, took the stage to share his life story and the path he followed to achieve his dream career. Ms. Komal Rao, Mr. Prashant Sharma, and Mr. Amit Yadav, also shared their life journeys and encouraged the students in positive and motivating terms, underscoring the importance of determination and perseverance in achieving one’s goals. Real-life lessons were shared with the students to inspire them.

The School of Medical and Allied Sciences (SMAS) orchestrated a pivotal One-day National Conference under the aegis of DST SERB sponsorship on “Current paradigm in Cancer Theranostics” hosted at Multipurpose Hall, K R Mangalam University. The conference delved into the latest advancements and breakthroughs in cancer treatment and diagnosis. The event commenced with an illustrious inaugural ceremony. The conference featured distinguished Chief Guest, Prof. Jagriti Bhatia from AIIMS, New Delhi, who addressed the latest trends in cancer theranostics inspiring the audience. Overall, the one-day National Conference on Current Paradigm in Cancer Theranostics proved to be a resounding success, serving as a platform to come together in the fight against cancer.

The School of Medical and Allied Sciences successfully conducted the third and fourth days of the 5th Pharmacovigilance Week with a blend of creativity and community engagement. Day 3 featured storytelling and poster-making competitions where students highlighted crucial themes like adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting, safe medication practices, and the role of pharmacists in public health, along with a podcast session that gave them a platform to share perspectives on drug safety and responsible medicine use. Day 4 brought impactful awareness through a Nukkad Natak performed in the campus courtyard, powerfully conveying the risks of self-medication and underscoring the importance of community awareness. These activities showcased the students’ enthusiasm and active participation in promoting pharmacovigilance and responsible healthcare practices.

The guest speaker for the session was Ms. Gargi Singh, Assistant Professor, School of Legal Studies (SOLS). She delivered an engaging and insightful address on the foundational aspects of professional ethics in education. Her talk encouraged educators to reflect on their roles as mentors and role models in upholding ethical standards. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to reflect on and explore the practical applications of ethics in their daily academic and professional responsibilities

The School of Medical & Allied Sciences (SMAS) recently organised an engaging visit to the Pranab Mukherjee Foundation’s Cosmetic Unit in Udyog Kunj, Gurugram, for newly admitted students. The tour offered a detailed look at the cosmetic manufacturing process, from formulation to quality control. This hands-on experience helped students link their theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. Interactions with industry professionals provided insights into current trends, regulatory requirements, and career opportunities in cosmetics and allied sciences. The visit concluded with a group discussion, where students shared their observations and enthusiasm for future industry prospects.

The School of Medical & Allied Sciences organised an academic visit to Jamia Hamdard’s Centre of Excellence in Unani Medicine under the title “A Practical Exploration of Herbal Healing.” The visit aimed to provide M. Pharm 1st Year students with practical exposure to advanced research techniques and interdisciplinary learning. Students explored cutting-edge facilities including zebrafish laboratories, cell culture labs, and analytical platforms such as GC-MS, HPTLC, and HPLC, while gaining valuable insights into phytochemical profiling, drug discovery, and herbal formulation validation. Expert-led interactive sessions and live demonstrations further highlighted the integration of Unani medicine with modern healthcare research. The visit proved to be a meaningful experiential learning opportunity, enriching students’ understanding of natural product drug development and strengthening their research orientation.

The visit, titled “Transforming Lives through Health,” offered practical insights into the PHC’s role in delivering essential care, including maternal health services, immunizations, and disease prevention. The School of Medical and Allied Sciences visited the Surajkund Mela for a fun-filled day of exploration and cultural immersion. The trip was a break from academics, giving everyone a chance to experience India’s rich heritage. Walking through the colorful lanes of the mela, students explored stalls filled with beautifully crafted textiles, pottery, paintings, and tribal art. The lively atmosphere, the creativity of artisans, and the variety of handmade crafts made the experience truly enjoyable and memorable for all.

School of Medical & Allied Sciences in collaboration with the International Center for Stem Cells, Cancer & Biotechnology (ICSCCB), New Delhi, organized a one-day workshop on “Virtual Screening & Molecular Docking in Drug Discovery: Navigating the Frontier of Cancer Research.” The workshop aimed to explore the latest advancements and breakthroughs in cancer treatment and diagnosis. Hands-on workshop was conducted for registered delegates covering demonstrations on drawing molecules and ligand preparation using ChemDraw, hands-on exercises with ChemDraw, and demos on receptor preparation with Chimera and OpenBabel. Mr. Abhijit Debnath, an expert in molecular docking and drug design, trained the participants thereby enriching their understanding on the subject matter.

The School of Medical and Allied Sciences celebrated World Pharmacist Day under the theme “Think Health, Think Pharmacist”. The event began with the Pharmacist’s Oath, reaffirming the commitment of budding pharmacists to ethical practice and patient care. An insightful guest lecture on “Pharmacist as Drug Designer: Unlocking the Power of Molecular Docking” was delivered by Dr. Kiran Bharat Lokhande, Research Scientist at THSTI, highlighting the expanding role of pharmacists in research and healthcare. The programme also featured a Workshop on Molecular Docking, where students explored computational drug discovery, and a Poster Competition, which showcased their creativity and scientific thinking. The celebration left a lasting impact by fostering awareness, encouraging research-driven learning, and inspiring students to embrace their future roles as healthcare professionals with integrity, knowledge, and innovation.
