Students from the School of Architecture and Design visited Somany Ceramic Factory in Bahadurgarh, Haryana, to gain practical insights into tile production. Led by industry experts, they learned about the manufacturing process, design considerations, materials used, and explored various tile sizes and costing. This hands-on experience bridged the gap between theory and practice, enriching their understanding of architecture and design.

Students of the School of Humanities visited the People’s Republic of China to participate in diverse cultural programs and educational visits. They excelled in language workshops and cultural activities, enhancing their Chinese skills and knowledge, resulting in excellent networking opportunities. This experience significantly expanded their cultural understanding and more.

Students visited “Recycle to Recreate” art exhibition which investigates how recycling in art can have a transformative effect. The exhibition showcased how artists transform waste materials innovative artwork, emphasising the principles of sustainability and creativity. The primary purpose of the exhibition was to stimulate visitors to reconsider waste and recognise the capacity for aesthetic value in ordinary objects.

KRMU International Relations participated in an Australian Higher Education Workshop by University of New South Wales (UNSW), at Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi. The UNSW Workshop provided academic exposure to the students through interaction with the professors of UNSW.

Students engaged with the participants, offering guidance and answering queries about Higher Education opportunities in Australia. The workshop saw positive outcomes as the attendees had an enhanced sense of awareness regarding Australian higher education, along with increased motivation.

The biggest plus point was that the KRMU students got to interact with professors of a Foreign University which made them feel more confident and broadened their academic perspectives.

School of Architecture and Design organized an event on ‘Constitutional awareness symposium. The aim for this event was to create an engaging and informative session to sensitize participants about the importance of constitutional principles and foster a deeper appreciation for democratic values, equality, justice, and freedom. Dr. Inderpreet Kaur, Dean, School of Legal Studies was invited as the resource person. She have an inspiring speech on constitutional awareness. Her profound insights ignited a passion for legal principles among students. The session was an enriching, invaluable and inspiring experience for all the students.

School of Architecture and Design (SOAD) hosted the DESIGN 2030 International Multidisciplinary Conference at M3M Broadway, bringing together over 100 architects, designers, and industry experts to explore sustainable and innovative design solutions.

Supported by COA, University of Florida, City College Glasgow, IIA (Haryana), IIID (Delhi), and Studio Tvastra, the conference featured 80+ researchers, discussing climate resilience, urban design, and heritage conservation. Eminent speakers, including Ar. Gajanand Ram, Ar. Vivek Logani, and Mr. Rishu Anand, shared their insights.

Highlights included the RASA exhibition integrating AR/VR, a material showcase, cultural performances, and a student-led fashion show. Panel discussions like “Architectural Toolkit for 2050”, along with Insta Talk sessions featuring design influencers, provided valuable industry insights.

Prof. Dr. Tanaya Verma, Dean SOAD, emphasized the conference’s role in bridging academia and industry, offering students firsthand exposure to future design trends. With sustainability and research at its core, DESIGN 2030 has set a new benchmark for innovation in architecture and design.

From studying vernacular architecture at Norbulingka Institute to delving into the history of Kangra Fort in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi Government Engineering College, our educational trip offered valuable insights into architectural diversity and cultural nuances. Join us in celebrating the transformative power of interdisciplinary learning and cultural exchange!

The Community-driven Revitalization for Education and Transformation (CREAT) initiative, spearheaded by the School of Architecture and Design (SOAD), culminated in a successful event Colors of Change: Inspiring Minds, Sharing Smiles at Government Primary School Garhi Bazidpur Village, Gurugram, Haryana. The donation drive orchestrated under the CREAT initiative had a profound impact on the educational landscape of the primary school. A plethora of essential items including textbooks, teaching aids, storybooks, notebooks, toys and games, school bags, water bottles, lunch boxes, pencil boxes, and colouring supplies were collected from the generous contributions of the K.R. Mangalam family.

The School of Architecture and Design organised an expert session in collaboration with AI House India. AI House, a Hong Kong-based software company, recently expanded its operations in India. The session was led by Mr. Manjit Gogoi, Director of AI House India, along with Ar. Arup Sarkar, an architectural designer. They introduced students to 3D design and rendering techniques using their software, with Ar. Arup conducting a live demonstration. The session provided valuable learning insights to the students.

School of Architecture and Design’s Fashion Design Department held a farewell for the final year students with a Gothic Luxe theme. The venue was decorated with dark drapes, fancy candelabras, and vintage gothic items, creating an elegant and mysterious atmosphere. Invitations had detailed gothic designs, setting the mood for the evening. Teachers dressed in theme, adding to the experience. The gothic theme made the farewell a memorable and special way to honor the students’ contributions.

Roopantr, the Fashion Group of K.R. Mangalam University under the aegis of Student Welfare, proudly represented the University at AIIMS and secured the 1st Prize with their captivating theme “Romanticizing the Demon & The Dark Side.” The performance beautifully reflected the journey from shadows to spotlight, turning chaos into couture and proving that fashion is not just worn, but performed. Special credit goes to Raghav Sharma (President, Roopantr) for choreography and concept creation, Garvit for styling and model management, Anya & Aishani for garment settings and camera, and Varuni for backstage management.

The Fashion Design Department at the School of Architecture and Design (SOAD) celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi. The day began with a Ganesh-making competition, showcasing students’ creativity, followed by a talent hunt featuring singing, acting, and instrumental performances. The celebration concluded with Ganesh Vandana, dance, and other joyful activities, fostering unity and joy.

The School of Architecture & Design recently hosted an inspiring guest lecture titled “Ideating Museums Designing for Narrative Expressions,” enriching our students under the Analyse, Dialogue, Design & Architecture (ADDA@SOAD) series. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Saurabh Sharma, the visionary founder and CEO of Soku Design Corporation. His remarkable presence and profound insights left a lasting impression on our students, providing them with a rare opportunity to learn from a leader who has transformed his passion into a thriving enterprise.

We successfully hosted a dynamic guest lecture titled “From Concept to Creation: Practical Innovations in Sustainable Architecture,” as part of the ADDA@SOAD series. Our esteemed speaker, Adreesh Chakraborty, an award-winning architect, interior designer, furniture, product designer, and co-founder of The Earth Home Design Studio, shared his wealth of expertise in architecture, interior design, and product innovation. His works have been extensively published by major publishing houses and journals, showcasing his innovative approach to design. His presence and expertise truly made a significant impact on our students, offering them invaluable lessons and inspiration.

The School of Architecture and Design celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm at the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Gallery — a space that beautifully reflects India’s rich cultural and intellectual heritage. The session highlighted yoga not just as a fitness practice but as an essential part of India’s ancient wisdom, promoting balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Holding the event in the IKS Gallery added deeper meaning, reminding everyone of the timeless relevance of India’s traditional knowledge — from architecture and design to science, health, and philosophy.

This celebration was more than just a yoga session; it was a moment to reconnect with the roots of Indian knowledge systems and appreciate their value in today’s fast-changing world. SOAD’s initiative reflects its commitment to blending modern design education with the age-old wisdom of India, inspiring students to create with mindfulness, sensitivity, and sustainability at heart.

School of Architecture and Design organised a lecture by Navdeep Sindhu on “Game Design and Development” to abrust students about the latest trends in the gaming industry and a quick start guide for our students. During this session, students learned about software used in game making and the importance of computer programming language.

K.R. Mangalam University and Studio Tvastra, a leading entity in the field of Art & design under the SOAD, signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The signing ceremony, which took place on the university’s campus, signalled the start of a potential partnership focused on combining innovative Art & design techniques.Students will work under the guidance of experts and will be given through practical training and knowledge.

The School of Architecture and Design (SOAD) successfully organised a two-day Nexus event titled “Sculpting Space: Integrating Art in Architecture”. The event brought together students from SOAD, the State Institute of Urban Planning and Architecture (SIUPA), Rohtak, and MBS School of Architecture and Planning, Delhi, creating an engaging platform for collaboration, creativity, and exchange of ideas. The workshop provided students with hands-on experience in model-making and enhanced their understanding of how art and architecture converge. Participants explored diverse Indian temple architectural styles—Dravidian, Nagara, and Vesara—and translated their learnings into detailed physical models, reflecting both technical skill and artistic interpretation. Overall, the two-day event was a resounding success, inspiring students, fostering cross-institutional collaboration, and reinforcing SOAD’s commitment to experiential learning and creative excellence in architecture.

SOAD hosted a transformative Quality Improvement Program aimed at enhancing educational excellence. Educators and administrators came together to delve into the realms of quality teaching, assessment practices, and pioneering research methodologies. The program commenced on a high note with an esteemed lineup of guests and the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor. Coordinators from the B. Design Fashion, Game Design, and Interior Design programmes presented their respective courses. They discussed various challenges and strategies for improvement, offering a comprehensive overview of their curricula and the unique hurdles each discipline faces. The program was dedicated to fostering team bonding and camaraderie among the faculty of the School of Architecture and Design. These activities succeeded in building a stronger sense of community and mutual support within the team.

We were honoured to have the esteemed photographer Aditya Arya, Founder & Director of Museo Camera, Gurugram, and a celebrated figure in the world of photography at our SNAP Exhibition. The overwhelming response to the exhibition from across the country was incredible, showcasing stunning works, with 15 entries receiving awards. Mr Aditya Arya delivered an inspiring lecture on ‘The Importance of Photography in Architecture and Design’ as part of the ADDA@SOAD series, further enriching our understanding of the intersection between these fields. His contributions to photography, both as an artist and as the founder of Museo Camera—the largest not-for-profit photography museum in Asia—are truly remarkable. His expertise and passion have inspired many, and we are privileged to have him share his insights with us.

The students of the Fashion Department attended a transformative seminar, “A Day with Polimoda”, held at the prestigious Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, Delhi. The highlight of the event was a session led by Massimiliano Giornetti, Creative Director and Director at Polimoda. His expert workshop, titled “Brand Identity vs. Brand Image”, explored the intricate relationship between how a brand presents itself and how it is perceived by the public. This seminar provided insights into the global fashion industry, offering students the opportunity to engage in discussions about the future of fashion and the evolving role of creative directors. The session not only broadened their understanding of the fashion world but also inspired them to think critically about branding in the modern era. Interacting with industry professionals, students gained a unique perspective on fashion’s dynamic landscape, positioning them to excel in their future careers.

School of Architecture and Design, Fashion Design Department had the privilege of hosting Ms. Miranda Higgins from the University of the Arts London for an enlightening seminar focused on ‘Portfolio Guidance.’ During her visit, Ms. Higgins also delved into various facets of fashion and design, discussed promising career opportunities within the field of fashion design, and shed light on the social and environmental implications of the fashion industry. The students expressed their immense satisfaction with the valuable insights gained from this seminar, highlighting its significance in their educational journey.

School of Architecture and Design’s Fashion Design Department organized their first-ever “External Student Jury” for Bachelor of Design and B.A. Fashion Design students. Students presented their projects to a panel of judges. The jury evaluated creativity, technical skills, presentation, and overall impact.

School of architecture and design students attended a Turtle-Making Workshop by Mr. Manveer Gautam (Plastic Valla) at Alliance Française, Delhi, as part of the “Festival of Ideas – We Are the Ocean.” Using pre-cleaned non-recyclable plastic waste, students created turtle sculptures on wooden bases through cutting, rolling, and assembling colorful plastic strips. The session emphasised sustainable art practices and environmental awareness. It was an engaging, hands-on experience that highlighted the creative reuse of plastic waste, leaving students inspired and more conscious of eco-friendly art methods.

Students of B.Arch programme undertook an educational visit to the brick kiln located in Kherli Dausa, Haryana. The primary objective of this trip was to gain firsthand knowledge of the brick manufacturing process and the classification of bricks into different grades. The visit provided students with valuable insights into the practical aspects of brick production. The kiln staff demonstrated each stage of the process, from the preparation of raw materials to the final classification of bricks, enriching their understanding of the subject. The experience was highly beneficial for the students, enhancing their theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of construction materials.

School of Architecture and Design (SOAD), students visited Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dwarka, for a case study. They explored various hospital departments, focussing on planning and the interrelation between departments. The visit highlighted service-dominant areas like waste management, housekeeping, and administration, which are essential for smooth hospital operations. Students gained insights into the detailed planning of the emergency ward, radiation department, OPD, and IPD. It was a valuable learning experience for students.

Students of Architecture and Design visited Tilonia Barefoot College, Rajasthan, to study its innovative community-led development model. They explored initiatives in solar energy, water conservation, handicrafts and rural education, observing how these create sustainable livelihoods. The visit provided valuable insights into sustainable design, vernacular architecture and the social impact of community-driven solutions.

School of Architecture and Design with NSS organized an extension activity in Ghamroj. The students went to do a creative wall art exercise on the premises for Raghuvanshi Public School. Students have shown their creativity and team work for completion of the exercise. Students enjoyed the overall experience that helped them in the developing the creativity and concept for their design exercises. Students made beautiful designs on the walls. Such events helps the students to explore their hidden talents.

School of Architecture, Department of Fashion Design, is thrilled to announce the successful organization of a workshop on velvet embroidery. This event provided participants with a deep dive into the world of velvet embroidery techniques and mirror work, thanks to the expert guidance of artist Mr. Balkishan.

Velvet embroidery, a timeless art form, was the central focus of this enriching workshop. Attendees had the privilege of exploring various aspects of this craft, gaining valuable insights from Mr. Balkishan’s expertise. They not only learned traditional techniques but also discovered innovative ways to incorporate velvet embroidery into contemporary fashion design, making this knowledge invaluable for fashion enthusiasts and aspiring designers.
