Message from the Dean Research

Greetings from the Research & Development Cell (RDC)

In recent years, there has been a marked change in the global environment, where the capacity to innovate and commercialise new high-tech products has taken the shape of a distributed global network. Sensing this pulse, India has recognised the strategic and economic importance of competitiveness and the knowledge economy. India strives to be ‘Vishwaguru’ and to be among the top three economic leaders in the world. Knowledge, and only knowledge through innovation in every walk of life, can be the sole path to achieving this goal.

Research, development, and innovation have become integral parts of this journey. It is high time that, apart from publicly funded R&D institutes, industries, Institutes of National Importance, and all other higher education institutions, come forward to take up the challenge and contribute significantly to the development of society as a whole.

We are also looking forward to establishing active collaborations with top-ranking academic institutions and industries to undertake outcome-based projects. We encourage our faculty members to undertake consultancy and collaborative projects. We maintain high standards of integrity and ethics and comply with ethical codes of research.

KRMU envisages aligning its R&D endeavours with the nation’s aspirations, such as ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’, ‘Technology-enabled Development, Energy Transition and Climate Action’, ‘Swachh Bharat’, ‘Ayushman Bharat’, ‘Atal Innovation Mission’, and ‘Skill Development’, among others.

IPR, Legal & Ethical Matters Cell

Intellectual property rights are crucial in fostering innovation, creativity, and economic growth. They provide creators and innovators with the assurance that their efforts will be protected, encouraging them to invest in research and development and bring their ideas to the market.

Intellectual Property (IP) plays a significant role in providing a competitive edge to an organisation. The intangible assets of an organisation – such as know-how, inventions, brands, designs, and other creative and innovative products – are, in present times, more valuable than its physical assets.

With this backdrop, the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell seeks to provide guidance to academic and non-academic staff, students, scholars, and external agencies alike on the practices and rules of the University regarding IPR and related obligations, which include the nature of IP, its ownership, exploitation, technology transfer, and confidentiality requirements. This initiative fulfils the university's commitment to promoting academic freedom and providing a conducive environment for research and development.

Research Achievements

The WHO published a report titled “Pathogens Prioritization: A Scientific Framework for Epidemic and Pandemic Research Preparedness". This comprehensive report involved the collaborative efforts of more than 200 scientists from 50 countries, who evaluated 1,652 pathogens across 28 virus families and one core group of bacteria. The published report provides a structured method for ranking pathogens based on their potential to cause epidemics or pandemics. This framework will aid researchers and policymakers in allocating resources effectively for preparedness and response. By identifying high-risk pathogens, the framework aims to guide research efforts towards preventing, detecting, and controlling future outbreaks.
