Special Lecture- V on “Rule of Law under Tension

School of Legal Studies organised a Special Lecture- V on “Rule of Law under Tension” as part of the Motilal Nehru Lecture Series. The chief guest of the event was Professor B.B.Pande. Professor Mehraj Mir, the Chair Professor of the Motilal Nehru Chair, also joined the event. The main purpose of this event was to explore various aspects related to the rule of law, human rights, and the societal impact of legal systems. Professor B.B. Pande, in his speech, emphasised the importance of the rule of law and discussed the tensions currently affecting it. He discussed the tensions and challenges faced by the rule of law, such as transgressions of legal processes, selective deployment of laws, majoritarian faith-oriented re-imaginations and balancing economic interests to promote greater equality. Through the lecture, the attendees gained a deep understanding of what the rule of law is and how it is under tension.
