Difference between Campus and Corporate life

Campus and corporate life are two separate parts of your career both have their own sets of rules&regualtions, values and discipline. Even the rules and regulations have major differences because campus life is about learning whether corporate life is about achieving set marked goals and showing productivity. On campus, you have the freedom to live by your rules and philosophies but in the corporate world, no one cares about your way only thing demanded is creative ideas and skills for a boosting business. In the corporate world not adhering to guidelines, being disrespectful and having bad behaviour in the workplace means losing the dream job. In your campus life, you’re an individual player who works to earn good marks and knowledge but in corporate life, you’re a team player or a leader.

Top 7 tips for Campus to Corporate Training

Develop Punctuality

You must have sometimes given your assignment or submitted projects after the deadline. But this is not acceptable in the corporate world. Punctuality in the corporate world means arriving at the office, making and presenting reports and attending appointments and meetings on time. To be punctual you should learn time management skills so you can perform or do all the tasks on time.

Be a Team Player

Being Collaborative is a core skill important to work in a team efficiently to meet the same organisational goals. As well said by Steve Jobs “Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people”. Great teamwork helps in solving complex problems with creative solutions. There are still some significant benefits of teamwork like an increase in productivity, usage of full potential, lesser risk, fewer mistakes, finding new growth opportunities and low stress. To build collaborative skills try to engage yourself in group projects and assignments. This will naturally build certain teamwork qualities in you.

Be Empathetic and Respectful

Empathy means being able to understand and respect the experience and feelings of others which in the case of your professional life are your colleagues, juniors and seniors. A person who is a good listener, open-minded and understanding is considered empathetic. That’s how you should be exactly to build great relationships in the workplace and also in day-to-day life.

Stress Management Skills

In the corporate world, every task has a specified period of time to complete, sometimes this reason causes a lot of stress to employees. There are still more workplace factors behind the causes of stress. So for this, you’ll need excellent stress management skills to work feasibly. Some usable tactics to reduce stress are time management, conflict management, relaxation techniques and goal management.

Be Observant in the Workplace

Being a good observer in the workplace shows you many opportunities to make growth. Observe how people interact with each other for like passing information and getting their work done on time. At the same time watch their demeanour like how their hands move and body posture.

Dress-well

There are four types of dress codes in the corporate world business formal, business professional, business casual and casual. Whichever your company suggest wear them with professionalism. Always wear clean pair of shoes and ironed clothes.
