With an increasing number of reputed multinationals and new ventures all looking to hire the best among the rest, there is no denying the fact that with time, job interviews have turned into extremely grueling sessions. This especially holds true for management graduates as management is considered to be one of the most important aspects for the growth of any business. The interviews conducted for the budding business administrators and managers are primarily focused on their ability to delegate tasks, lead groups, and efficiently perform several other management duties. In terms of management interviews, the questions may vary widely from sector to sector. The exact questions might change according to the job you are applying for but the pattern more or less remains the same. In this article below, you will find some of the most common interview questions that are asked to management graduates.

What is your reason for wanting this job?

One of the major reasons for asking this question is to gauge if you are someone who is really interested in this particular position or can go for any job that comes your way.  You can answer this by highlighting certain specific aspects of the job description and how those particular aspects make you excited about the job. It helps if you keep the latest information and news about the company and incorporate how knowing those aspects motivated you to take the job.

What challenges do you expect to face in this role?

The aim of this question is to judge if you are someone who can take the challenges head-on. In this question, you need to show how your skills can help you to solve the problems and deliver better results. See to it that you create your answer based on how challenges excite you and motivate you to do better. No company wants an employee who fibs, and they would rather want to see that you are ready to take tough decisions and get the job done.

What do you think your objective will be for this role?

This question is put forward to see if you have a clear understanding of the job. The interviewers need to know that being a new management graduate whether you have an accurate understanding of the responsibilities, the scope of career progression, the hours, and the day-to-day workings. Since you are going straight to the job after your management education, you need to confirm that you know what you are getting into.

What would you do if your team members are under-performing?

This is just one example of the hypothetical questions that can be asked to work out how well you can think on your feet. A management graduate is expected to be spontaneous in his/her responses and thinking when faced with a problem. A question like this one assesses your ability to manage the people. These questions have no set answer and they are basically based on the situations that you may come across upon entering the job role.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

Do not go for generic answers like “I’m too hard working” or “I’m too much of a perfectionist.” The employers are looking to get real answers and not the same old things that they have heard a million times before. Mention your actual strengths and how they make you fit for the job at hand. In terms of weaknesses, mention a weakness that is relatively small and fixable. Show that you are working to fix the problems actively.

Why should the company hire you?

This question is what you need to use as an opportunity and not a hurdle. The company wants to know what makes you a better manager than the other candidates out there. Show how your management skills are better honed and what internship projects you have availed. Give an idea of how you are a team worker who can effectively manage projects and delegate time as necessary. Bring out and show your skills and achievements in the discussion.

Do you have any questions for us or about the company?

You need to tread really carefully on this question. You would want to know about the company but not appear as if you are judging them. You can come up with questions about the company and your role as an MBA  Management Graduates.
