My Life As A B.A. (Hons.) Political Science Student At KRMU

May 10, 2024

In the words of David Robinson,” That’s what a university’s life is all about. Challenging, questioning, enjoying good friends, and pushing yourself to the limit.” Life at K.R. Mangalam University is the same, it might not feel like Bollywood movies, but it feels better and more realistic. Some days are challenging, and filled with new projects, events, themes, and concepts. The other are the ones where we sit back under the shade of trees, enjoying noodles with friends.

Some days we have no idea how time flies by on campus; other days it’s hard to stick around and enjoy when one person from the circle is missing. I have seen friends becoming family here, and slowly this will become a memory that we will visit from time to time whenever we open the old-duty albums, revising pages of our lives in collage. I feel so proud to be a student in one of the best university in Gurugram.

Programme Details

Talking about the programme I enrolled in after passing my 12th from the medical stream, of course, it was hard to cope with new subjects, new concepts, and new ways of thinking. Moreover, I joined quite late; already half the semester was over by that time, and I had to take exams. It was a stressful situation for me, but my professors were a great support, especially in my department of political science. In particular, we have great teachers; they have not just done immense work in the research field, but they have also made the classroom interesting for us. Creating a safe space where we understand one another.

Everyone is inclusive and understanding. So far, I have studied women, power and politics, political theory, peace and conflict resolution, globalization and its dimensions, international relations, comparative politics, the United Nations and global conflict, and many more. I have worked on various projects as well, like book reviews, analytical assignments, research work, etc.

Academic Achievements At K.R. Mangalam University

Talking about the various achievements throughout the academic year. I believe the best academic achievement is always what you have learned within that process, not what award or recognition you have gained. The first ever competition I participated in was an inter-university MUN competition, where I participated as a delegate and spoke up as a representative of Nigeria in the G20 Summit Anti-Corruption Working Group Summit at GD Goenka University, Gurugram.

I have also participated in various other competitions and secured positions. As the President of the MUN Club, I have organized various competitions and events like MUN sessions, debate competitions, and writing competitions, with my fellow club members. We have together conducted various guest lectures, where we got to meet various famous scholars like Dr. Archana Negi, associate professor at JNU; Professor Anuradha Chenoy, author of “Militarism and Women in South Asia”; Ms. Beate Langset, Councillor for Environment and Climate at the Royal Norwegian Embassy; and many more.
